Co-Captain

Front Suspension Lead

U4 Mechanical Engineering

4th year on team

Throughout my years on Baja I have worked on the seat, steering, and suspension subsystems, giving me a lot of hands-on experience with many parts of the car. In 2015, I simply joined the team for the opportunity to build something exciting, but have also found a passion for understanding and optimizing race car vehicle dynamics. As a co-captain and suspension lead, I hope to improve our team performance for the upcoming season and build upon the legacy left behind by Baja alumni.

Technical Director

Rear Suspension Lead

U4 Mechanical Engineering

4th year on team

I’m a 5th-year mechanical engineering student and in my four years on the team I have designed the gas tank system as well as the frame. This year I am responsible for part of the suspension as well as supervising the design and manufacturing of the entire car as the technical director.

Like everyone else, I started as a general member on the team learning about the different parts of the car. Last year, during the manufacturing phase, I worked on designing the jigs for the suspension system. I will be working on the drivetrain system this year and ensuring that it is at its utmost performance.

Co-Captain

U3 Mechanical Engineering

4th year on team

My main goal for this year is for our team to finish the car much earlier than last year. This will give us a lot of time to test and tune our car before competition, which I strongly believe will result in a top 10 finish! My favourite thing about Baja is that our car is relatively simple to build, but difficult to do well. This means there are hundreds of other universities at each competition to compete against. I’m excited to see how MB19 turns out, and I’m confident it will be our best Baja yet!

Thomas Lee

Technical Director

CVT Lead

U4 Mechanical Engineering

4th year on team

During my Baja career, I’ve designed the brakes, drivetrain, and I am now taking on the CVT. I am also the main machinist on the team. This year I am trying to use my knowledge and experience to encourage and teach the younger members to be the best engineers possible. I am also trying my absolute best to build a much better vehicle than any previous year so that we can take home some trophies next summer. My favourite part of Baja is being able to feel like a real engineer as we go through the full engineering cycle while building our race car.
